Summer Reading Club
Kids’ Summer Reading Club
Each summer our libraries offer a Summer Reading Club aimed at 5-12 year olds, to keep kids engaged with reading during summer vacation. A key activity is for kids to pick up a free Reading Record at the library, and keep track of all the amazing books they read over the summer. Kids can collect stickers, bookmarks, and receive their own “Reader’s Medal” at the end of summer.
Our libraries also offer various summer story-time and activity programs for kids both at the libraries and at local island events. Look for the library reading tent at Saturday markets, fairs, and festivals on your island. Kids must be accompanied by an adult to library programs.
The theme for the 2017 Summer Reading Club is “Walk on the Wild Side!” featuring BC animals:

The BC Summer Reading Club is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association and your local library with the assistance of Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education, and the RBC Foundation. Visit the SRC kids website for more information on this year’s chosen artist.
