The Southern Gulf Islands libraries, located on Pender, Mayne, Galiano, Saturna, and Piers islands, are funded primarily through public tax levies collected by the Capital Regional District. Our libraries receive 4% of all taxes collected in our region for services. Small annual grants are also provided by the Libraries Branch, Ministry of Education. Due to the concerted efforts by over 125 library volunteers, our libraries remain open year round to serve local island communities.
We would like to thank our islanders for supporting library fundraising events and for your personal donations — your financial support is directly used to keep our libraries thriving as hubs in the community. Thank you!
If you would like to make a cash donation, cheques can be made out to the library name and mailed or dropped off at the library. A charitable tax receipt will be issued for larger amounts. Please contact the library Treasurer for further info on donating funds to the library.
Visit our Planned Giving page for details on how you can leave a lasting legacy to your local library.
