Welcome to the Southern Gulf Islands Community Libraries
The Southern Gulf Islands, BC, have a rich history in establishing local libraries within each island community through the efforts of dedicated volunteers. Each island library is now considered a “hub” in the community, meeting places on small rural islands where all people are welcome. Our libraries offer a wide range of services and programs, including great literature, art displays, creative programs for adult and kids, public computers, eBooks, and online databases.
The five libraries in the Southern Gulf Islands (Pender, Mayne, Galiano, Saturna, and Piers) come together under the Capital Regional Districts’ Southern Gulf Islands Public Library Commission. The Pender Island Public Library Association co-ordinates services obtained from the BC Libraries Cooperative and the Libraries Branch, Min. of Education, and the provincial and Capital Regional District funding on behalf of the libraries.
