Volunteering

The Southern Gulf Islands libraries are operated by staff and volunteers, under the governance of Board Members and the guidance and supervision of a Library Director.  The people you meet at the library’s front desk are supported by many Board members and staff/volunteers who help deliver library services to your community. Our volunteers enjoy the camaraderie of working together and helping patrons in an enriching library setting.

New volunteers are encouraged to apply to fill vacancies, as there are many ways to help your local library. Many of the tasks require an enthusiastic commitment, professional work standards, and ensuring patron privacy is maintained. Previous experience is not always required, and training may be provided as needed.
