About the work

This group of work represents the artist’s exploration of surface decoration on functional wheel thrown forms, as well as the combination of basket weaving techniques with ceramics.

The large coloured plates are painted with layers of coloured strips then carved with images of flowers and wildlife.

Vases of various sizes and shapes are pierced around their rims to accommodate woven bulrushes. Each vase is dipped and sometimes splattered with a combination of colourful glazes handmade by the artist.
